Problems and Solutions

Every one of these is something we've actually seen happen in a calibration lab - not a hypothetical.

Measurement & Reading Errors

Taking a wrong measurement

Every reading is captured and logged automatically - there's a record of exactly what was read and when, not just what ended up on the certificate afterward. Minimum, maximum, average, and uncertainty are calculated as the readings come in, so an outlier stands out immediately instead of surfacing later.

Parallax error reading analog gages from an angle

GageEye captures the reading directly through automatic image capture - there's no angle to misjudge, because no one is reading the dial by eye. Every capture is backed by a digital snapshot, so if a reading is ever questioned, it can be checked again instead of taking someone's word for it.

Subjective interpolation of needle position

The reading is captured and digitized directly from the gage - interpolation isn't left to a guess. GageEye converts the needle position into a precise digital value the same way every time, whether it lands exactly on a line or between two.

Manual transcription of a visually-read valueAutoCalibrator

The reading image is recorded the moment it's captured. There's no separate manual transcription step where a digit can drift - the value goes straight from GageEye into any CMS (Calibration Management System) or AutoCalibrator.

Reading the wrong scale on a multi-scale assetAutoCalibratorGageHand

GageEye is set up to read the specific scale in use, so switching scales doesn't depend on the technician remembering which one applies - the correct scale is part of that asset's own configuration, not a judgment call made in the moment.

Transferring a reading to the certificate wrongAutoCalibrator

The captured value flows straight through - there's no separate manual entry into the certificate where a number can change. GageEye sends it directly into your calibration software through keyboard emulation or its REST API, the same way every time.

Certificate & Documentation Errors

Writing the measurement unit wrongAutoCalibratorGageHand

The unit is part of the gage's own configuration in GageEye, read together with the value itself - it isn't typed in separately where it could be swapped for a different one.

Traceability, Compliance & Audit Readiness

Automatic recording left turned offAutoCalibratorGageHand

Recording isn't a setting someone can forget to turn on in GageEye - image capture happens as part of taking the reading, not as a toggle that has to be switched on beforehand.

Setup & Calibration Process Errors

Zero and span errors corrected separately, compounding the errorAutoCalibratorGageHand

GageEye takes the reading through the same automatic capture at every setpoint, so a zero or span adjustment doesn't rely on a separate manual reading that could disagree with the next one.

Outdated manufacturer specs used as the referenceAutoCalibratorGageHand

GageEye's own configuration for an asset carries the manufacturer specification that is actually current for it, so a reading isn't checked against a number left over from an earlier version.

Wrong number of test points selectedAutoCalibratorGageHand

GageEye captures a reading at every test point the sequence calls for, so the number of points measured is whatever the job defines, not whatever a technician decided was enough.

Different technicians using different methods for the same measurementGypsyAutoCalibratorGageHand

GageEye captures every reading the same automated way regardless of who is at the bench, so the reading itself doesn't vary with the technician's own habits.

Efficiency, Paperwork & Accountability

Time lost to repetitive manual setup stepsGypsyAutoCalibratorGageHand

GageEye keeps a gage's own reading configuration on file, so the setup for a returning asset doesn't have to be redone from scratch each time it comes back for calibration.

"Paperwork is 90% of the work"GypsyAutoCalibrator

The reading GageEye captures goes straight into the record - none of the paperwork around a measurement depends on someone writing it down first.

Manual data entry hurting morale and slowing new hiresGypsyAutoCalibrator

A new hire doesn't have to learn a data-entry convention for readings at all, because GageEye captures the value directly - there's nothing to type in the first place.

Every manual hand-off is one more chance for a mistakeAutoCalibratorGageHand

A reading moves from GageEye into the certificate or work order without a manual hand-off in between, so there's no point in that path where a value gets copied by hand.
